Iniciativa visa proteção de 70 mil ha de Unidades de Conservação com monitoramento, combate a incêndios e apoio à biodiversidade
A parceria entre a Fundação Florestal, vinculada à Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Infraestrutura e Logística (Semil), e a empresa Bracell, especializada na produção de celulose solúvel, visa à conservação de cerca de 70 mil hectares de florestas nativas, distribuídos em 11 Unidades de Conservação no Estado de São Paulo. Este compromisso foi renovado, nesta segunda-feira (11), por meio do programa Adote um Parque. O objetivo é promover o desenvolvimento e a implementação de ações voltadas para a proteção da biodiversidade, incluindo a doação de insumos, serviços e apoio à Operação SP Sem Fogo.
Segundo o diretor executivo da Fundação Florestal, Rodrigo Levkovicz, o Programa Adote um Parque, além de apoiar o desenvolvimento das Unidades, promove o engajamento da sociedade na conservação ambiental. “No primeiro ano da parceria com a Bracell, já conseguimos ver os benefícios nas UCs, principalmente na rápida resposta no controle e mitigação de incêndios. Agora, com a ampliação das frentes de apoio, também atuaremos em conjunto na proteção da fauna silvestre e conservação das florestas nativas”
O compromisso renovado visa apoiar a proteção das Unidades de Conservação contra incêndios florestais, envolvendo a instalação de placas educativas, monitoramento por câmeras de longo alcance, controle de espécies invasoras, monitoramento da fauna e construção de passagens aéreas para a vida selvagem. O número de Unidades participantes aumentou, sendo elas: Estações Ecológicas Águas da Santa Bárbara, Angatuba, Avaré, Barreiro Rico, Caetetus, Itapeva, Paranapanema e Sebastião Aleixo da Silva (Bauru), Parques Estaduais de Carlos Botelho e Nascentes do Paranapanema e Refúgio de Vida Silvestre Aimorés (Gleba II – Jardim Botânico).
A parceria reitera a iniciativa da empresa, cujo compromisso é o de proteger, conservar ou restaurar um hectare de floresta nativa para cada hectare plantado de eucalipto no estado. Ao longo dos últimos meses, a parceria também beneficiou o combate aos incêndios florestais, com apoio às ações preventivas, incluindo a construção e manutenção de aceiros, a doação de equipamentos e capacitações para combate a incêndios.
“Para a Bracell é muito importante celebrar parcerias que potencializam o nosso forte comprometimento com a sustentabilidade, especialmente tendo em vista a proteção da vegetação nativa dos biomas brasileiros. Temos a alegria de já ter alcançado 82% da meta do nosso ‘Compromisso Um-Para-Um’ e essa parceria é mais um importante passo para atingirmos o nosso objetivo.
